Coronavirus - Information for Tenants

Following the announcement made by the Government on 23rd March 2020 our offices at Tay Street and South Street are now closed until further notice.  Whilst our offices are closed to the public there are members of our team who continue to work remotely from home to ensure that we are able to continue to provide our clients with legal and property services.

For the duration of the lockdown, no viewings are permitted to take place at any of our properties.  

Property Inspections
All property inspections have been temporarily suspended.  We are reviewing this regularly and as soon as the Government guidelines are relaxed, our property inspections will resume.

Property Repairs
We have put in place procedures to deal with urgent repairs and have a list of contractors who will attend any emergencies.  All non-essential repairs will be carried out as soon as it is safe to do so.

If you have an emergency repair, please contact us as soon as possible.  We will require to confirm if you or anyone who lives in the property are self-isolating or shielding to ensure it is safe for any contractor to attend the property.

Rent Arrears
If any tenants affected by COVID-19 have concerns about their financial situation, it is important that you contact us as soon as possible.  

The Scottish Government have issued the following information:

Tenants affected by Coronavirus who are concerned about paying their rent can claim Universal Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions which includes support for housing costs, if eligible. The UK Government has introduced some temporary changes to make this easier. If a tenant is getting Housing Benefit or Universal Credit, but still can't afford their housing costs, they may be eligible for a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP). Further information on DHPs and how to apply is available at: https://www.mygov.scot/discretionary-housing-payment/ 

Tenants may be able to get support through the Scottish Welfare Fund. Further information on how to apply is available on: https://www.mygov.scot/scottish-welfare-fund/crisis-grants/ 

We are following the guidelines/advice from the Government and receiving regular updates from ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents).  We will keep you up to date with the ongoing information provided.
